The Lighting Association Technical Committee


This powerful Committee hails representatives from all sectors of the industry, for example Philips, Dar, Ansell Electrical and MK, meeting 5 times a year to discuss/influence the technical & legislative issues facing the Industry. Assessing draft proposals emanating from the European Commission, UK Government and other sources such as standards bodies, etc. Information is circulated to members in the form of Technical Bulletins and Information sheets.

Working closely with DEFRA, BIS, OFGEM, EST and The Carbon Trust. We share our experience and technical understanding in National, European and International arenas, ensuring that the voice of our members is heard.

The LA was a founder member of CELMA, the main body that works with the European commission on the EU legislation for lighting

Membership of the Association's Technical Committee is, by design, representative of the many sector interests of the Association's membership, comprising representation from the lamp industry, LED, commercial and decorative luminaire industries and components suppliers with representation also from the retail sector, UK government and the Association's Laboratories

Steve Poole – LA Laboratory Manager has managed the LA Lab since 2000. Fully conversant with a wide variety of lighting related standards. Previous career background includes Technical Management, Customer Service Management, Quality Assurance Management and international approvals responsibility for an OEM Manufacturer. The LA Laboratory as well has being a UK Notified body for Lighting is also an international CB Test Laboratory and Steve sits on the Operational Staff Meeting committee expert task force 5 for Lighting. With a background in electronic engineering Steve as ensured that the LA Lab is proficient in assessments of all aspects of LED Lighting.
