Technical Manager
After initially working in West End theatre lighting and several fulfilling years testing luminaries at British Standards, in 1988 I moved into industry developing Far East products for direct delivery to DIY majors and joined LA Technical Committee.
Appointed Technical Manager in 1996 and continue to-date in active development of LA Accreditation Services (Code of Practice) for members and supplier factories worldwide. Currently includes over 120 factory Audits, Pre Delivery Inspection reviews and Training. Tutor for LA Manufacturers Training Distance Learning Course.
I provide and develop Quality Manuals and Procedures in accordance with CE Mark and EU regulations. Supply test equipment and Training for UK and Far East factories.
As Lighting production has moved from a mainly UK/Mainland Europe base, to a relentless swing towards the Far East, this has presented a challenge, to balance and provide all the necessary support services for LA members and Far East factories. Having secured key support from UK and China Associates, the LA is best placed to fulfil this vital role and provide high quality, value for money services to UK members and Far East suppliers.
My aim is to continue to ‘Promote, Protect and Serve LA Members’ and remain focused and contented in this role, working with a truly dedicated team.
