LIA Annual Lunch Event 2012

LIA held its Annual Lunch Event combined with its successful morning seminar on the 23rd May at The Draper's Hall, London.

This is a key event for Members in the LIA year and it was extremely well supported with 170 people attending the lunch and 55 attending the morning workshop.

The morning workshop entitled "Finance and Advice support for lighting manufacturers in respect of R&D, lighting refurbishment and exporting" comprised of four presentations given by: Geoff Smyth from the Carbon Trust, Nicola O'Connell - Dept of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), Myrddin Jones - Technology Strategy Board and Richard Burridge - UKTI .All presentations were stimulating and provided good material and thought for the delegates and are now available on the members section of the LIF and LA websites.

The lunch event also had a busy programme starting with Awards ceremonies for both the Abacus Lighting LIA Certificate Course and the Holophane David Currie LIA Advanced Certificate Course. The overall winner of the Abacus Awards, for the outstanding student of the year for the LIA Certificate Course was Daniel Green from Havells Sylavnia and the runners up were Ian Slater from Whitecroft Lighting and Nick Cooke from Illuma Lighting Solutions

The overall winner of the Holophane David Currie Award for the outstanding student of the years 2010/11 from the Advanced Certificate Courses was Arjun Chakravarti from Reggiani Lighting and the runners up were Eleanor Bell from Eleanor Bell Lighting and Tim Bowes from Whitecroft Lighting

Finally the President, Rune Marki of OSRAM Ltd, gave a review of the progress and achievements in LIA over the previous six months since the merger of LA and LIF. A copy of the Presidents report is available to Members on the member's area of the website.
